NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Physics – Chapter-Wise
Chapter 1 : Electric Charges & Fields
You need to see a spark or have heard crackle when taking off your clothes which are made using woolen or synthetic material. This happens due to dry weather. To understand why this happens, Electric Charges & Fields chapter will explain it all. This occurs due to electric charges discharged from the body. In other words, this occurs due to static electricity that’s generated.
In this chapter, the student will study how to solve questions depending on the calculation of the forces that are in between two-charged particles that are placed at a distance from one another. The students will also learn why charges appear in materials the moment you rub against each other. Moreover, the student will also get questions on how to determine the total charge & dipole moment of the system with electric field and torque.
Chapter 2 : Electrostatic Potential & Capacitance
When external force works in taking a body from point A to point B against other forces like gravitational force or spring force that operates gets kept body potential energy. If an external force will be removed, then the body moves, attaining kinetic energy & losing the same amount of potential energy. The summation of kinetic & potential energies is conserved. These kinds of forces are known as conservative forces. Gravitational force and spring force are the best examples of conservative forces. Coulomb force between two stationary charges is known as a conservative force.
Electrostatic potential & capacitance notes consist of 11 questions & 26 extra questions, thus, you will have a total of 37-questions.
Chapter 3 : Current Electricity
In this chapter, you will find 13 questions & 11 extra questions. Current electricity chapter deals with the steady movement of charges & the study of the rate of movement of charge, Kirchoff’s law, and Ohm’s law. Furthermore, the chapter also presents the idea of certain instruments for measuring including like Wheatstone bridge, ammeter, voltmeter, and potentiometer.
Chapter 4 : Moving Charges & Magnetism
In this chapter, you will learn that the moving charge on a magnetic field produces a force. Moreover, in this chapter, you will learn about motion current-carrying conductors inside a magnetic field & about magnetic effects that are produced by the conductors. You’ll get to understand how the current-carrying wire or charged particle behaves in presence of some magnetic field. Moreover, you will also understand the way a current creates a magnetic field. This chapter also has 13 questions & 15 extra questions.
Chapter 5 : Magnetism & Matter
A magnetic phenomenon is universal. The earth’s-magnetism precedes human evolution. With this chapter, the student understands how the earth behaves like a magnet with a magnetic field that points approximately the geographic south to north. When a magnet bar is suspended, freely it points to the north-south direction. The tip that points to the geographic north is known as the north pole & the tip that points to the geographic south is known as the magnet south pole. This chapter consists of 15 questions & 10 extra questions.
Chapter 6 : Electromagnetic Induction
In this chapter electromagnetic induction, the student will study a moving conductor in a magnetic field that produces current. The principle is utilized in Alternating Current generators. Moreover, in this chapter, you have a total of 17-questions where 10 of the questions are from exercise & 7 are extra questions.
Chapter 7 : Alternating Current
The student will be able to learn about AC Voltage that’s applied to a resistor, capacitor, series LCR circuit & inductor. The different diagrams & graphs present in the textbook assists you in clearly knowing the concept. By studying this chapter, the students will be able to answer complex questions & issues which would appear in board exams. The significant concept in this chapter is the transformer.
Some of the subtopics covered in the chapter include Alternating currents, reactance & impedance, peak and RMS value of alternating current/voltage, LC oscillations, resonance; LCR series circuit, AC generator, transformer, and power in AC-circuits
Chapter 8 : Electromagnetic Waves
The electromagnetic wave is dependent on magnetism topic. With this chapter, the students will study in detail ideas like electromagnetism, potential difference, capacitor & displacement. Other major concepts that are available in this chapter are Kirchhoff’s rules, similarities between conduction-current & displacement current, and RMS-value of conduction current.
The Subtopics which are studied include Electromagnetic waves & their characteristics, Electromagnetic waves Transverse nature, and Electromagnetic spectrum including radio waves, infrared, microwaves, visible, X-rays, ultraviolet, and gamma rays.
Chapter 9 : Ray Optics & Optical Instruments
With this chapter, the student will be able to learn about the idea of refraction, dispersion, and reflection of light with the help of the ray picture. Using the reflection & refraction laws, image formation is clearly outlined in this chapter. The working and construction of optical devices including the eye of a human being are explained here. Furthermore, the students will also study natural phenomena that are brought to sunlight which is significant from an exam viewpoint.
Some of the subtopics covered in this chapter include Ray Optics which includes Refraction of light, optical fibers, total-internal reflection & its use, refraction on spherical surfaces, thin lens formula, lenses, lensmaker’s formula, lens power, magnification, refraction of light via a prism, and combination of thin lenses in contact.
Optical instruments includes Microscopes & astronomical telescopes (refracting & reflecting) & their power of magnifying.
Chapter 10 : Wave Optics
Here, an original creation of Huygens principle & deriving the laws of refraction and reflection will be discussed. The idea of interference that’s based on the superposition principle will be discussed. Moreover, the idea of diffraction that’s based on the principle of HuygensFresnel. Finally, the phenomenon of polarization that’s based on light waves transverses the electromagnetic waves will be discussed in this chapter.
