Counting in Sanskrit: Sanskrit, which means “perfected” or “refined,” is one of the oldest languages. It is a member of the Indo-European family’s Indo-Aryan branch. Vedic Sanskrit, which dates from the second millennium BCE, is the oldest form of Sanskrit.
Sanskrit, also known as “the mother of all languages,” is the most widely spoken classical language on the Indian subcontinent and one of the country’s 22 official languages.
Origin of Sanskrit
The Sanskrit language was given the name Deva-Vani (‘Deva‘ Gods – ‘Vani‘ language) because it was said to have been created by the god Brahma, who then handed it on to the Rishis (sages) in celestial abodes, who then passed it on to their earthly pupils, from where it spread.
The language’s written origins may be traced back to the 2nd millennium BCE when Rig Veda was composed.
Influence of Sanskrit on other Languages
Sanskrit has had a significant influence on other Indian languages, including Hindi and Indo-Aryan languages like Kannada and Malayalam.
Telugu is regarded to have a significant lexical similarity to Sanskrit, from which it has borrowed many words. It has influenced the Chinese language since China has adopted several distinctive Sanskrit words.
In addition, Sanskrit has had a huge influence on Thailand and Sri Lanka, and numerous words sound similar.
Along with the current Indonesian language and the old Malay language is spoken in Malaysia, the Javanese language has been affected by Sanskrit. Sanskrit had a modest influence on the Philippines, but it is less than Spanish, for example.
Above all, English, the current modern international language, has been influenced by Sanskrit and has picked up many loanwords from the ancient language.
