NCERT Class 9 Solutions

CBSE was previously considered a very difficult board because of the insufficient resources for the same. However, class 9th holds a lot of importance in student’s educational life which can be explained point-wise in the following segment.

Chapter-wise Explanation of all Subjects of NCERT Class 9 Solutions

For a better understanding of the students, NCERT Class 9 Solutions are provided to the students according to the respective subject. There exist some important subjects in class 9th such as Mathematics, Hindi, Science, Sanskrit, Social Science, and many others. A short elaboration of all these subjects and chapters is given below individually.

MATHEMATICS

Chapter 1- Number Systems:

The properties of numbers make them capable of performing arithmetic operations on them. The numbers are called numerics also and this chapter explains various properties of numbers and how they are used to describe different expressions in Maths.

Chapter 2- Polynomials:

This chapter teaches the student about a polynomial expression consisting of variables that are involved in addition, subtraction, non-negative integer exponents of variables, and multiplication. It explains the different functions of polynomials in mathematical equations.

Chapter 3- Coordinate Geometry:

This chapter contains a complete concept of coordinate geometry such as the Cartesian system, coordinate points, how to plot the points in the coordinate axes, quadrants with signs, and others.  

Chapter 4- Linear Equations in Two Variables:

Students will study the basics of linear equations of one variable, two variables, and so on in this chapter. They can also learn to plot a graph of the linear equations and find the solutions for linear equations.

Chapter 5- Introduction to Euclid’s Geometry:

From this chapter students will know the role of geometry in overall mathematics and how the importance of a line, a point, a surface, and a plane was evaluated and explained by a teacher Euclid in Alexandria, Egypt. He gave a few amazing ideas about the basic concept of geometry.

Chapter 6- Lines and Angles:

This chapter teaches students about lines and angles and the results from the combination of both. It states the concepts of transversal, parallel lines, intersecting lines, angles, and interior angles.  

Chapter 7- Triangles:

The chapter details congruent angles, its criteria SAS, SSS, ASA, AAS, and RHS, and inequalities of triangles. The concept of congruency is well explained in the chapter.

Chapter 8- Quadrilaterals:

This chapter discusses parallelogram, properties of diagonal of a parallelogram, diagonals of a rhombus, diagonals of a rectangle, diagonals of a square, important results related to a parallelogram, and the mid-point theorem, and an introduction to quadrilaterals.

Chapter 9- Areas of Parallelograms & Triangles:

Students can learn details of the areas of parallelogram and triangles in this chapter. It states about the common base, area of a parallelogram, theorems, triangles on a common base, and a parallelogram and a triangle between the same parallels.

Chapter 10- Circles:

Students can study complete detail about the circle and its properties here. He can learn about radius, chord, diameter, circumference, arc, segment & sector, theorem of the equal chord, circle through 3 points, circles & quadrilaterals, and all the theorems formed under different positioning of chords. 

Chapter 11- Constructions:

Here, students can learn how different shapes are drawn using the ruler and compass, how to construct the bisector of the given angle, construction of a perpendicular bisector. All the constructions are well explained with solved examples.

Chapter 12- Heron’s Formula:

This chapter explains how Heron’s formula is used to find the area of a triangle and other polygons.

Chapter 13- Surface Areas and Volumes:

There exist some particular formulae to find surface areas and volumes of different shapes. The recognition of these areas and volumes can help students to make a lot of calculations in mathematics and with the proper guidance of NCERT Class 9 Solutions,students can easily crack the 9th standard exam very confidently.

Chapter 14- Statistics:

Statistics is the construction and organization of various aspects of given information so that many more required results can be received from the same. This is a little complex part of mathematics that may take a little more attention from the students.

Chapter 15- Probability:

Just like the famous saying that when a glass is half-empty, it is also half-full, in the same way, the probability of various assumptions is possible until a definite answer is received.

Chapter 1- Matter in our Surroundings:

This chapter mentions and elaborates on all the elements present in our surroundings which are both living and non-living. The base of science subject is framed through this chapter for a much better understanding of this subject by the students.

Chapter 2- Is Matter around Us Pure:

The title of this chapter is a very important question that should be considered by everyone. This exact thing is explained in this chapter and some other things are also elaborated on in it.

Chapter 3- Atoms & Molecules:

All things are made of atoms and many atoms combine to form molecules and other elements. This is properly explained in this chapter so that the future chapters of chemistry and science, as a whole, are understood appropriately by the students.

Chapter 4- Structure of the Atom:

How does an atom look and what are the identical features of an atom that helps in forming millions of molecules and compounds are all explained elaborately in the form of this chapter.

Chapter 5- The Fundamental Unit of Life:

Atom is the basic and most fundamental unit of life which evolves to make a lot of other substances present in the world. An elaboration of this statement in various aspects is done in this segment of Science subject.

Chapter 6- Tissues:

Living organisms have different types of tissues in their bodies that constitute the framework of various organs. All of this is explained briefly to the students in this chapter.

Chapter 7- Diversity in Living Organisms:

Different organisms have different living conditions and habitat adaptations which are elaborated precisely with the help of the Diversity in Living Organisms chapter for the students.

Chapter 8- Motion:

All living organisms move and this movement creates motion of different forms. This is what is elaborated through this chapter.

Chapter 9- Force & Laws of Motion:

Force and the 3 laws of motion are explained in brief with respective formulae in this chapter.

Chapter 10- Gravitation:

Isaac Newton found about gravitation and right from then, a lot of evolutions have taken place in this concept. All this is mentioned briefly in this chapter with some basic formulae of gravitation.

Chapter 11- Work & Energy:

Through this chapter, the importance and different forms of energy and how it is related to work are explained. Also, some important relation points between work and energy and formulae to find these are given.

Chapter 12- Sound:

Sound is created with the help of special kinds of waves and this formation does not take too much time at all. All of this is explained in much more detail with the help of this chapter for a better understanding of the sound of the students.

Chapter 13- Why do we Fall Ill?

Living organisms attract a lot of diseases in their regular life. However, many times, humans may not get into much detail about why these diseases are caused to them and what is the reason why they fall ill. This is what is elaborated through this segment of science subjects.

Chapter 14- Natural Resources:

Humans use a lot of natural resources throughout their life for a lot of reasons. These natural resources are also prone to get extinct as per the increase in their use. All of this is elaborated on in this chapter.

Chapter 15- Improvement in Food Resources:

The quality of food in our surroundings and our life is very important for building a strong and healthy life for ourselves as well as our loved ones. Different ways to improve the food resources for us as well as others are explained to the students in this chapter.

ENGLISH

1} Beehive –

Chapter 1- The Fun they Had, The Road not Taken:

This chapter underlines the important role of computers in the future. The role will be significant and the traditional schools will be replaced by virtual classrooms.

Chapter 2- The Sound of Music:

This is a story of two music genius, Evelyn Glennie and Bismillah Khan. It underlines the importance of hard work and determination to achieve the highest in life. 

Chapter 3- The Little Girl Rain on the Root:

This story is about a small girl Kezia and her feelings about her father. This girl was very scared of her father and feared him a lot. The story further opens the layers of their relationship.

Chapter 4- A Truly Beautiful Mind, The Lake Isle of Innisfree:

This chapter talks about the great scientist Albert Einstein who was interested in Physics and Mathematics. It states his journey to discover the Theory of Relativity and his likes and dislikes.

Chapter 5- The Snake & the Mirror, A Legend of the Northland:

This is a very interesting chapter of the encounter between a homeopathic doctor and a snake in a resting room. It states the importance of accepting oneself as we are.  

Chapter 6- My Childhood, No Men are Foreign:

Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam was a personality everyone used to bow and this chapter tells about his early days. It describes a few of his childhood memories too.

Chapter 7- Packing, The Duck and the Kangaroo:

The chapter tells about the tedious work of packing just before you are off on a holiday. The task is not as easy as it sounds and even becomes messy if the friends are around.

Chapter 8- Reach for the Top On Killing a Tree:

This chapter is a biography of the two greatest ladies on the top, Santosh Yadav and Maria Sharapova. While Santosh scaled great Mount Everest twice, Maria became no 1 in tennis through several sacrifices in her life.

Chapter 9- The Bond of Love, The Snake Trying:

This chapter narrates the true love between a human and a pet. It is not that only humans can have a true love bond. It says a happy end story between a couple and their pet bear.

Chapter 10- Kathmandu-A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal:

The story in this chapter teaches students to be responsible and bear thoughtful ideas. We should visit holy places with a clear mind and pure concepts. The story tells about Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Chapter 11- If I Were You:

The chapter tells students a story about a criminal and Gerald. Gerald is living at home for work and the intruder is a murderer. Gerald tricks him and hands him over to the police. It is about learning not to be over-confident and also keep vigilance of the surrounding.

2} Moments –

Chapter 1- The Lost Child:

The chapter is about children’s feelings about their parents. Despite all odds children always want their parents to be around to bless them. The love from both sides is unconditional and the feelings are genuine.

Chapter 2- The Adventures of Toto:

This chapter narrates about a monkey named Toto and his mischief with the narrator. He is brought by the writer’s grandfather and he is very naughty. The lesson teaches students to behave responsibly and create no nuisance in a congenial environment.  

Chapter 3- Iswaran the Storyteller:

The story told in this chapter tells the students not to believe things told by others unless they confirm them. Use your brain and think about the possibility of such things happening because rumors and lies spread faster than truth.

Chapter 4- In the Kingdom of Fools:

This is a great chapter with an interesting story that will teach students to identify and stay away from foolish people. The fools may end up making your life miserable and painful. This is nicely explained via a story of a foolish king and his foolish minister.

Chapter 5- The Happy Prince:

This chapter contains a very heart-touching story of a happy prince and a swallow. It tells the students to show compassion towards the needy no matter what. It insists that one must help needy people till the last they can help.

Chapter 6- Weathering the Storm in Ersama:

The bad conditions that a heavy storm brought to Ersama are highlighted in this chapter. This also gives a very important message that messing with nature will give very dangerous consequences to all living beings and especially humans.

Chapter 7- The Last Leaf:

This is a heartbreaking story of a person who is living just to fulfill a single wish of making a masterpiece. However, his hopes are hanging on a thin thread of the last lead that will fall off from a plant. But, a major and life-lessoning twist interests as well as mesmerizes students after reading this chapter for sure.

Chapter 8- A House is Not a Home:

This chapter describes the heartbreaking realization of the author that without your loved ones in the house, a house can never be a home. The loss of the author’s cat disturbs him so much that he comes to this tragic realization at the end of this chapter.

Chapter 9- The Accidental Tourist:

A tourist by accident and the things that happen in his life are highlighted much more precisely in this chapter.

Chapter 10- The Beggar:

A story of a beggar and his struggles to fulfill his basic food needs are magnified in this chapter to make students know the importance of what they have.

3} Main Course Book –

Chapter 1- People:

An interesting take on people, their lifestyle, the way they think, their habits, etc., is enhanced in this fun chapter.

Chapter 2- Adventure:

An amazing adventure that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions is embraced in this chapter.

Chapter 3- Environment:

Our environment is a very beautiful concept and if maintained properly, it can support a healthy life for all living beings for eternity. This is the basic theme of the explanation behind this chapter.

Chapter 4- The Class IX Video/Radio Show:

A fun audio/video show that will entertain the students a lot and will bring much more energy and enthusiasm to them regarding studies is included in this segment.

Chapter 5- Mystery:

A special and hidden mystery that brings out a lot of fun and excitement is highlighted in this chapter.

Chapter 6- Children:

Children are God’s purest and most innocent gift and their innocence should be protected to as much extent as possible. This chapter brings out a lot of emotions of the students that may get ignored sometimes by their elders.

Chapter 7- Sports and Games:

The importance and elaboration of different sports and games are mentioned in detail in this chapter. With the help of this chapter, students can also understand much more about different games and sports forms and choose the best ones among them for themselves.

4} Three Men in a Boat –

This is a short story book for the fun and entertainment of students from which much more knowledge can be gained by the students.

5} Gulliver’s Travel Novel –

Gulliver and the Lilliput is a very popular story that shows the importance of togetherness and gives us the teaching that when small creatures come together, they become much stronger undoubtedly.

SANSKRIT

SHEMUSHI PRATHMO BHAG –

Chapter 1- भारतीवसन्तगीतिः

This chapter explains the poem of Pandit Vallabh Shastri from his making ‘Kakali’. In this, he is requesting Goddess Saraswati to play her ‘Veena’ to make nature happy and for the birds and the wind to play their pleasing role. This chapter tries to awaken the feeling of independence in common people.

Chapter 2- स्वर्णकाकः

Taken from ‘Vishwakathasatakam’ this lesson from Padma Shastri’s stories, tells us the bad impacts of greed through the story of the gold-winged crow. This chapter also highlights the importance of sacrifice and its benefits.

Chapter 3- गोदोहनम्:

This is an excerpt from the drama ‘Chaturmyaham’  where a person stops a routine daily work of milking the cow in the want of all milk together (greed again) and when he tries to do it the cow does not allow him to draw a single drop.

Chapter 4- कल्पतरुः

This part is taken from ‘Vetalpanchvishi’ which is full of amazing incidences and tells several values of human life. This is a story of ‘Jimutketu’ who prays to ‘Kalpavriksha’ to let every person on the earth have enough money and no person be left without money (Kalpvriksha is a tree that fulfills wishes).

Chapter 5- सूक्तिमौक्तिकम्:

Sanskrit carries a very rich culture of fundamental knowledge and values. This chapter is about a few of the valued summaries which make our life successful and satisfactory. The word means valued pearls from rich sayings in Sanskrit.

Chapter 6- भ्रान्तो बालः

This chapter tells students the story of a child who was more interested in games than studying. He called practically everyone to play with him but none was free to do so. He even requested a sparrow and dog but they too denied so he realized the value of time and concentrated on his studies.

Chapter 7- प्रत्यभिज्ञानम्

This chapter is about the meeting of Lord Arjun and his son Abhimanyu during an encounter between the ‘Kauravas’ and Prince Uttar of King Janak. Abhimanyu could not identify his father due to a change of gender and dress so when he was made the identification clear he feels proud of his father and uncles.

Chapter 8- लौहतुला:

This story is taken from the famous book ‘Panchatantra’ by Vishnu Sharma. This summarises the bad effect of greediness. The story narrates how a greedy person was taught a lesson by a smart person in a ‘tit for tat’ style.

Chapter 9- सिकतासेतुः

This is taken from the 7th part of ‘Kathasartsagar’ by Somdev. In this, a child is taught a lesson about reaching the goal with the right path as there is no shortcut or other way to reach the final destination. The child is shown to get knowledge just by praying which is not the right path as we need to study to get knowledge.

Chapter 10- जटायोः शौर्यम्:

This famous incident is taken from session ‘Aranyakand’ from ‘Ramayana’. This tells students how ‘Jatayu’ fought bravely despite old age and almost defeated ‘Ravana’ who was flying with Goddess Seeta.

Chapter 11- पर्यावरणम्:

This is a short essay about the role of the environment in our lives, the reasons for pollution, who is responsible for it and why, and how can it be overcome.

Chapter 12- वाङ्मनःप्राणस्वरूपम्:

This chapter tells students about a student and his teacher’s conversation. The conversation is about what is mind, life, and speech. The teacher explains to him the example of food we eat and what happens when we eat it.

ABHYASWAAN BHAV –

Chapter 1- अपठितावबोधनम्:

This chapter teaches how to understand the given paragraph and answer the questions. There are several short paragraphs are given for your study and learning. 

Chapter 2- पत्रम्:

This chapter is about the right ways of writing a letter. Examples include a general letter to a friend or a relative to a professional letter. This makes the students basic preparation before they enter the outside world of competition.

Chapter 3- चित्रवर्णनम्:

In this students will find several examples of reading the picture correctly. Each picture can be read differently by different people and the same picture also can be read differently by the same people. The chapter strengthens your grasping and visualizing capacity.

Chapter 4- संवादानुच्छेदलेखनम्:

This chapter helps increase the imagination and vocabulary of students. They will get to complete a partially written conversation and based on that they need to understand and complete the unwritten statements from the conversation.

Chapter 5- रचनानुवादः

In this chapter, students are required to translate sentences or paragraphs in the given or their language. To sustain the meaning of the original work is very important.

Chapter 6- कारकोपपदविभक्तिः

This chapter on grammar will help students to understand the importance of proper statements in any language. A wrong word or wrong placement of a word can change the meaning of the sentence. 

Chapter 7- सन्धिः

This chapter tells students about the combination of two words to make another meaningful word. Students will either need to combine the given two words to make new or they need to break up a given combined word into the two meaningful words.

Chapter 8- उपसर्गाव्ययप्रत्ययाः

This chapter will teach students how to complete a sentence with given separate words. The words must be combined to make a single meaningful word and sentence.

Chapter 9- समासाः

Here, students will learn how to make one word from two and identify ‘samasa’ or break up the words into two and identify ‘samasa’.  This exercise makes the student’s grammar very strong if learned by heart.

Chapter 10- शब्दरूपाणि:

Sanskrit is a very vast language and it has multi-layers for each word. This rich language writes a single word in many forms according to the situation and need. This chapter is about teaching the right form of a word to be used based on the form of the sentence.

Chapter 11- धातुरूपाणि:

This chapter helps students to identify and correct a word from the given statement. There may be more than one word that needs to be corrected. This chapter strengthens the grammar base of the students.

Chapter 12- वर्णववचारः

This chapter teaches us to understand the parts included in a single word. It states how the word can be fragmented grammatically. It also explains the different types of words by the way we pronounce them.

SOCIAL SCIENCE

ECONOMICS –

Chapter 1- The Story of Village Palampur:

The description of a village named Palampur and all the things that take place in it are explained in detail in this chapter.

Chapter 2- People as Resource:

People are the most important wheel of the vehicle named the economy and how this can be proved is mentioned elaborately in this chapter.

Chapter 3- Poverty as a Challenge:

Chapter 1- The French Revolution:

French Revolution was a major turning point in the history of the whole world and that is why it is remembered so well even today. All about this revolution is explained in this chapter for detailed reference to the students.

Chapter 2- Socialism in Europe & the Russian Revolution:

How socialism took place in Europe and what exactly the Russian Revolution is explained in detail in this chapter with dates and special mentions of people and occasions.

Chapter 3- Nazism & the Rise of Hitler:

How was the previous constitutional design of our country and how did it evolve with time is all that is mentioned in this chapter much more briefly for a better understanding of the Indian constitution of the students.

Chapter 3- Electoral Politics:

Politics have different types and one of them is electoral politics. Everything about electoral politics, right from its definition and other important information of the same is discussed in this chapter.

Chapter 4- Working of Institutions:

Chapter 5- Democratic Rights:

Chapter 3- श्यामाचरण दुबे उपभोक्तावाद की संस्कृति:

This chapter explains to the students how culture and traditions have become just a medium of showoff for a lot of people and how all this is taking people towards a not-so-great traditional and cultural future.

Chapter 4- जाबिर हुसैन सांवले सपनों के बाद:

The beautiful and elegant dreams of popular bird-lover Salim Ali has been presented very shortly through this chapter in front of the students for their understanding of people’s thought process and their lives.

Chapter 5- चपला देवी नाना साहेब की पुत्री देवी मैना को भस्म कर दिया गया:

This chapter tells us a story about the life and character of princess Maina in brief. It tells us about what she has faced in her life and how it resulted in the life that she finally lived and the character that she represented.

Chapter 6- हरिशंकर परसाई प्रेमचंद के फटे जूते:

This chapter tells us about the struggle that a person faces in the downfall of their life. Nothing and no one is strong enough to support them and the mishappening situations that they experience in their life are highlighted in this chapter.

Chapter 7- महादेवी वर्मा मेरे बचपन के दिन:

This chapter tells us about the golden old times of the life of Mahadevi Varma. The way she spent her childhood is taught to the students so that they can learn some important things about living a simple and happy life.

Chapter 8- हजारीप्रसाद द्विवेदी एक कुत्ता और एक मैना:

The story about a dog and a myna is explained in detail in this chapter. It is a sweet roller coaster that revolves around the communication of these 2 amazing creatures.

Chapter 9- कबीर साखियां एवं सबद:

Kabir’s spiritual thoughts are put into light with the help of this chapter for the understanding of the students. With the help of this chapter, students can learn a lot about religion and how Kabir idealized spiritual activities through his eyes itself.

Chapter 10- ललद्यद वाख:

In this chapter, the writer has explained the knowledge that people can gain from education and the importance of this knowledge to show your presence in the real world.

Chapter 11- रसखान सवैये:

In this chapter, the mesmerizing look of Lord Krishna is highlighted and the efforts of Gopi to copy this look are shown which may be both failing as well as successful to some extent.

Chapter 12- माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी कैदी और कोकिला:

In this chapter, Kokila compares freedom fighters and jail culprits equally. She thinks that both are interrupting majorly in the regulation of her place.

Chapter 13- सुमित्रनंदन पंत ग्राम श्री:

A beautiful presentation of nature is done in this poem that every student should read very attentively. Nature has a lot of amazing elements in it and all of those are highlighted very credibly in this poem.

Chapter 14- केदारनाथ अग्रवाल चंद्र गहना से लौटती बेर:

This poem puts focus on the impractical and selfish relations of the people living in cities. These relations are not at all meaningful and have some hidden purpose behind each of them and this is emphasized in the given poem.

Chapter 15- सर्वेश्वरदयाल सक्सेना मेघ आए:

In this poem, the importance of clouds and rain is shown. Also, the impact of the delay of rain on people, especially farmers and even others is highlighted in it.

Chapter 16- चंद्रकांत देवतले यमराज की दिशा:

This poem highlights the importance of having fear of God and the devil to find out what is right and what is wrong. Without this fear, the life system and ethics of people will easily collapse and this is shown impactfully through the given poem.

Chapter 1इस जल प्रलय में:

In this chapter, students will learn about a gigantic flood in Patna, Bihar in 1967 where the writer was present and was an eyewitness. He remembered previous similar situations and kept praying to god.

Chapter 2- मेरे संग की औरतें:

This chapter states about the different characters and their thinking in the pre-independence era. Though each favored separate leaders they were free to express themselves. The chapter also states about the writer’s grandmother who had different plans as she was favoring Indian leaders. The lady is portrayed to be very modern in thinking.

Chapter 3- रीड की हडडी:

This chapter is about the orthodox thinking and behavior of men despite being highly qualified. The anti-woman thoughts are underlined by the writer in this chapter and it is an eye-opener for such people. The commercialization of marriages and education also makes the writer sad.

Chapter 4- माटी वाली:

This story narrates about a woman in ‘Tihri’ a place that was drowned down. The woman spends her day getting food by selling ‘mati’ (red soil). She has an old husband who was not well and died soon. This is a story of the citizens of that city who all experienced their property getting washed out due to the flood.

Chapter 5- किस तरह आखिरकार में हिंदी में आया:

This is a story of a writer Shamsher Bhadur Singh who had a low-profile life and overcame each hurdle to become a writer. It states his travel through each difficulty as a writer who wrote stories, poems, and essays.

Chapter 1- गिल्लू महादेवी वर्मा:

The writer Mahadevi Varma’s love for a squirrel is well explained in this chapter. She has written it beautifully to tell students the story of a squirrel she found and how she nurtured and took care of that squirrel.

Chapter 2- स्मृति श्रीराम शर्मा:

This chapter is about the fight of a child against a snake to snatch back the letters. The encounter between snake and writer raises thrill as he explains what tricks he and his elder brother played to get back those letters written by their elder brother.

Chapter 6- दिये जल उठे मधुकर उपाध्याय:
