Sanskrit is a very old and ancient language from South Asia belonging to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European languages. Chapter wise summary

Chapter 1 – शब्द परिचयः 1:

This chapter relates to Sanskrit grammar and explains the significance of words that end with ‘a’. The words denote the masculine categories. The chapter explanation is laced with pictures that make it easy to understand for students.  

Chapter 2 – शब्द परिचय 2:

This chapter explains the significance of the feminine categories words that end with ‘aa’. Again the pictures along with the words make it easy to understand for the students.

Chapter 3 – शब्द परिचय 3:

This chapter explains the significance of the neutral words which denote those common terms which are neither male nor feminine categories. 

Chapter 4 – विद्यालयः

In this chapter, the students will learn how to use a pronoun. Pronouns are used in place of nouns wherever possible and suitable. The pronouns can be presented in various ways. The name of this chapter is also a pronoun. This chapter also teaches about some conversations, especially questions and answers.                                      

Chapter 5 – वृक्षाः

This chapter underlines the importance of trees in the life of human beings and other living creatures. Trees are a friendly and helpful to human beings. Trees have several benefits for the people provided they are utilized in a proper way. Trees shelter the birds that seem to sing the songs for whole humans. Trees live on air and water but gift others the tasty fruits and shelter below them. They are a huge benefit for all living things.

Chapter 6 – समुद्रतटः

This chapter describes the seashores of famous Indian cities. It explains how the little kids enjoy the games and play with sand on the sea beach with their friends. There are many small and big boats guided by experienced people who go in the sea for fishing. India is laced with many sea shores namely Mumbai, Goa, Kanyakumari, and Chennai which has the longest sea shore. India on the south side is covered with sea from three sides.

Chapter 7 – बकस्य प्रतिकारः

This is a story of two so-called friends, a jackal, and a heron. Heron, on invitation by jackal, happily goes home for lunch. The jackal, being extra-smart, pours the food into a flat plate that the heron cannot eat with its elongated beak. The jackal, teasing the heron, eats all food. Heron does not like it and plans revenge. Next time he calls jackal for lunch and pours the food into a pot with a slender opening and long neck. Thus, the heron completes his revenge with the rule ‘Tit for Tat’.

Chapter 8 – सूत्त्किस्तबकः

This chapter consists of a series of prose. They summarise that the goals are completed only with hard work and there is no shortcut. Sleeping lions can’t eat deers. When the sun is not there, we opt for other sources of light. The chapter underlines the importance of learning because what is the use in reading if there is no learning?

Chapter 9 – क्रीडास्पर्धा:

In this chapter, the students will learn how to use the singular and plural properly. It is explained with the help of conversations on the occasion of sports competitions. The students will learn the importance of proper usage of singular and plural forms to indicate the right meaning of the sentences. If the terms are wrongly used it can not only misguide the listener but also change the meaning of the sentence.

Chapter 10 – कृषिकाः कर्मवीराः

This chapter highlights the importance of farmers in our life. Farmers are the real hard workers and possess the top priority. They are working round the clock without worrying about the hot sun or cracking cold weather. The farmers live a very tough life and they always work for others so that all can get grains. They are a true selfless category among entire human beings.

Chapter 11 – पुष्पोत्सव:

This chapter speaks about the ‘flower festival’ conducted in Delhi in October. One can witness the types of a flower we have never seen in our life. The flowers are decorated in many different forms to showcase the various structures. A lot of other activities like kite flying are also carried out on these three days of the flower festival.

Chapter 12 – दशमः त्वम असि:

This is a very interesting story of ten children who go for a dip in the river. The chapter indicates the fundamental mistake we can do in life. Upon completion of swimming in the river, the children back at the river-side make the mistake of not counting themselves. As a result, they feel one child is drowned in the river. When a traveler points out that each one is counting others but not self, they feel happy that all are safe.

Chapter 13 – विमानयानं रचयाम:

This chapter consists of four stanzas. First says, let us make a plane and have a ride in the sky. The second express to jump over tall trees and buildings to touch the sky. Let us jump over the Himalayas to step on the moon. The third one desires to make a garland out of the sun and numerous stars. The last one states to bring along the rows of clouds down to help the poor.

Chapter 14 – अहह आः :

This chapter is about a subordinate of an owner, who fulfills the weird wish of the owner. The chapter teaches the students that hard work and the will to succeed can lead to our goal. The worker is on the hunt for non-existent things desired by his master. The things do not have a physical appearance but the emotional one. However, in the end, the worker satisfies his master.   

Chapter 15 – मातुलचन्द्र:

This chapter explains the thoughts of a child. The child is curious about the moon and its appearance. He speaks with the moon and asks it where he comes from and all. In the process, the moon is described in a very beautiful way and the conversation is made interesting.
